Information about lost property &
the operations of the lost and found office

The storage, claiming and sale of lost property and other related practices are regulated by law and regulations. On this page, you can read more about the operating principles of our service. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact us!

Arrival of lost property at the lost and found office

Lost and found items come to us from companies, public operators and private individuals in the Rovaniemi region. Most often, the items arrive at our lost and found office within a few days of them going missing or being found. If your item has not been brought to us, we can provide expert advice and guidance on how to find your item.

Notification of lost property

If the found item clearly has the owner's information on it, we will immediately contact the rightful owner. In other cases, we try to find out who the owner is as efficiently as possible by cooperating, for example, with the police. However, the majority of lost items do not have any information about their owners on them, which means that it is a good idea to inquire about your own property.

Inquiring about & claiming lost property

You can inquire about lost items by phone using our on-call service number or by visiting our office. Items are handed over in return for a description and a lost property fee specified by law (5% of the value, up to a maximum of €17). We can also deliver the lost item, for example, as a parcel for a separate fee. We store items for three months.

Lost property after the storage period has expired

If a lost item is not reunited with its rightful owner within three months, we will recycle it appropriately or put it up for sale. Our shop's varying selection covers a wide range of lost items, from electronics to clothes.
